Whole Home Remodels

When Fixing One Room Isn't Enough
There's a particular frustration that comes with loving where you live and not loving how your house works.
You've updated the kitchen, maybe redone a bathroom, and the floor plan still fights you every single day. A whole home remodel is the point where you stop patching and start reshaping the house around the way your family actually lives.
We handle these projects from the first sketch through the final walkthrough, with design and construction under one roof and one contract. It's the most involved work we do, and it's also where we're most useful, because a project this size needs one team accountable for all of it.
We won't pretend it's a small undertaking, but we will make sure you know what's coming at every stage.
Should You Remodel or Move?
Almost every whole home project starts with this question, so it's worth thinking through honestly.
Moving means listings, agent commissions, closing costs, and leaving behind a neighborhood, a school, and a set of neighbors you may genuinely love. In Charlotte's established areas, it also means competing for a house that probably needs work anyway. Remodeling puts that same money into the home you already have, on the lot you already chose, and ends with a house designed around your family instead of somebody else's.
For homeowners in Myers Park, Dilworth, Eastover, and the older parts of South Charlotte, staying and remodeling is often the smarter long-term investment. The bones of those houses are usually worth keeping, and the location can't be bought twice.
We're glad to talk it through with you, even when part of the honest answer is that moving makes more sense for your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions About Whole Home Remodeling
- How much does a whole home remodel cost in Charlotte?expand_more
- Whole home projects land between $150,000 and $750,000. The range is wide because the work could include a new floor plan, updated systems, and a full kitchen and bath overhaul. Or, it could be cosmetic updates in every space. After a site visit we can narrow it to something you can actually plan around.
- How long does a whole home remodel take?expand_more
- Plan on several months of construction for most projects, with design and permitting ahead of that. We'll give you a realistic schedule during design rather than an optimistic one at the sales stage.
- Can we stay in the house during a whole home remodel?expand_more
- Sometimes, depending on scope. Projects that touch the kitchen, the main systems, and most of the floor plan at once are usually easier on everyone if you relocate. We'll be straight with you about which situation you're in early enough to make arrangements.
- Do you update electrical, plumbing, and HVAC?expand_more
- Yes, and a whole home remodel is the right time for it. Once walls are open, updating systems costs a fraction of what it does as a standalone project later.
- Do we need an architect before we call you?expand_more
- You sure don't. We handle design in-house, starting with a sketch and working through to a full drawing set with engineering where the project requires it. If you've already worked with an architect, we're happy to build from those plans.

Hear From Your Neighbors
"My husband and I hired 7Acre to complete a renovation to our outdoor living space and convert our garage storage room to a pool bathroom. Along the way, we had two bathrooms that needed to be renovated as well, and they were happy to assist. Throughout the course of our project, the 7Acre team was very responsive, respectful, and outstanding at communicating. It was a pleasure working with Brian Sr, Brian Jr, and John. We couldn’t be happier with what they’ve done with our house. They will be our go-to team for any work we need completed moving forward. I highly recommend them for all sorts of projects!”
Elizabeth O.
Working with Brian Sr., Brian Jr and John made life easy for us, giving my wife and I peace of mind that the work was being done professionally and with all the care and attention to detail required to deliver a superior product."
Bruce J.
"I interviewed several contractors for my project. At our first meeting, Brian Sr. was very clear that he wanted me to be happy with the results and get exactly what I wanted from the renovation. He and his team delivered on his promise. The first floor was pretty much gutted. I have a gorgeous kitchen, living room with added architectural details, reconfigured primary bedroom and bath. Brian Jr. was on top of all the details as the renovation progressed and went above and beyond to make the project run smoothly. I love my new home and couldn’t be happier."
Carolyn S.
"This is the second time I’ve used this team. Not only do they do excellent work, but they’ve actively defined the design work to fit my particular home vision. Their team is prompt, respectful, and does excellent work. Management (the owners) stay engaged with the project, supervise the work, and check in constantly on the project status, any needed changes, and, most importantly, my satisfaction with the work! They are definitely my team of choice. I have recommended them to other friends who’ve also been thrilled with their work and, importantly, with their ethics!"

"7Acre fixed a leak in a 2nd-floor shower that was visible in the kitchen below. They found the leak, fixed the bathroom tile and the kitchen ceiling. John and Brian were professional and polite, keeping us informed of every step along the way. We will call them again!"
Courtney O.
"Brian at 7Acre has been amazing with my client referrals. He’s prompt, professional, and overdelivers. My clients have ALL been satisfied, and we look forward to working on many projects in the future!"
Desiree H.
"Brian has been very responsive and has kept us updated if there have been any changes to our project. The work has progressed well, and we are looking forward to completing the project soon and moving in."
